Bamboo Yoga Shala

The pavilion is located in Badung Regency, Bali, which typically has a tropical, warm, and humid climate. The design of the project was inspired by nature and the tensile, flexible qualities of bamboo, which is the main building material.

It is a yoga and meditation centre with a large terrace and an enclosed area for more secluded practices.

Bamboo comes from nearby areas and is delivered to the site for further modifications. The bamboo poles used for rafters are bent using the rub-rub technique, while others are cut into splits for the ring beam and the purlins. The latter is made of thin bamboo rods (also known as lidis) bundled together with a few split bamboos in the middle. The roof is covered with flattened bamboo shingles.
